Information for Consumers in Financial Difficulties

If you’re struggling with your finances – or think you might be soon – please get in touch with us as early as you can.

How we can support you

If you're finding it hard to manage your payments, we're here to help understand your situation and support. We may ask for documents to help us assess your finances fully.

We’ll talk about what’s happened, why things are difficult and when you expect things to improve.

We can:

  • Share details of debt advice agencies that offer free advice
  • Set up a short-term payment plan based on what you can afford
  • Change how or when you make your payments

If we’re able to offer any of these options, we’ll explain how they work and give you time to decide.

What you can do:

  • Let us know as soon as you think you might struggle
  • Get advice on managing your debt
  • Keep in touch with us and reply quickly if we contact you
  • Stick to any agreed payment plan, or tell us if anything changes
  • Check if you’re entitled to benefits or tax credits that may boost your income
  • See if you have insurance that might help
