To mark International Women’s Day 2026, colleagues at Close Brothers Motor Finance in Dublin have been collecting clothing donations to support women experiencing homelessness.
The initiative is supporting Feed Our Homeless, a volunteer-led outreach organisation that provides food, clothing and other essential support for people sleeping rough in Dublin and surrounding areas.
With this in mind, our team has been donating clothing, with a particular focus on workwear for women. All types of clothing are welcome, especially during the colder months when demand for warm items increases.
Alongside meeting immediate needs, the charity also focuses on helping people rebuild confidence and take steps towards re-entering the workforce. For many, access to good-quality clothing – particularly workwear – can play a small but important role in preparing for interviews or starting a new job.
Recent estimates suggest that thousands of women across Ireland are experiencing homelessness or housing insecurity, from sofa surfing with friends or family to spending nights on the streets. Organisations like Feed Our Homeless continue to provide vital support, relying heavily on volunteers and community donations.
Stacey O’Connor, our head of marketing said, “This International Women’s Day, we want to do something to help the many women around Ireland who are struggling with homelessness. Recent estimates indicate there are as many as 4,000 women across the country who are struggling with housing. Whether that means ‘sofa surfing’ with friends and family or spending cold nights on the streets, this can take a huge toll on women’s physical and mental well-being.”
The initiative reflects similar activity across the Close Brothers Group, where teams in the UK are also supporting organisations that provide professional clothing and coaching to women preparing to return to employment.
