That's why we're delighted to be sponsoring two crèches through the Biodiversity in Schools programme, Muckalee Community Crèche in County Kilkenny and Links Crèche in Citywest, Dublin.
The Biodiversity in Schools programme is a simple but powerful idea that helps schools and early yearsearly-year services protect and create outdoor spaces that support local biodiversity. This also gives children the opportunity to learn about nature, wildlife, and sustainability in a hands-on way.
Sustainability is a word we hear a lot, but projects like this show what it looks like in practice, whilst helping children understand the role they play in caring for the environment. By planting native species and building habitats for pollinators and local wildlife, these initiatives also contribute to environmental protection at a time when many ecosystems are under increasing pressure. Small actions at community level can make a meaningful difference, and it's encouraging to see young people learning that from an early age.
Creating spaces that support biodiversity while influencing young people’s connection with nature is something we're proud to be a part of. Children are often the first to notice the small wonders around them, from a bee visiting a flower to wildlife thriving in a garden and for us, sponsoring these two crèches was an opportunity to encourage this curiosity whilst also shaping how they approach the world around them for years to come.
